to the home of Waconia Hockey Association
Deadline Extended to Sunday, April 20
Yes, Liev's looking at you. Not that other guy. You there with the eyes. That's right.
It's been a great year for the WHA. Just scroll down to review some of our kids' accomplishments.
However, six members of the WHA board have reached the end of their tenure, and we need to replace them. That's where you come in. Yes, you.
The WHA needs people to fill these positions. If you're afraid of the workload, don't be. We have one meeting a month for an hour or two. Sometimes there are cookies. The best part: your volunteer hours are filled for the two year term.
If you are interested in being considered for election to the board, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with a letter (100 words max) detailing why you would like to be considered, your background, and desired position of interest. As a reminder, the members of the association elect the new board members, but final position assignments are decided by the board of directors.
Congratulations to the U10 Girls Wildcat Team! The weekend of March 8-9, the girls secured a slot in the first ever Tournament of Champions for U10B teams in the state. This tournament, being offered for the first time this year, is the equivalent of a State Tournament for this level of play. The team will be playing other select district teams from across the metro during the weekend of March 14-16.
To qualify for this tournament, the girls secured the Runner's-Up honor in the District 6 playoffs by beating New Prague in a very physical game, 5-2. Earlier games in this tournament included a 3-1 win over Burnsville, and a tough loss of 6-2 against the team which would take first place in the district, Prior Lake-Savage.
This is the 5th consecutive year, going back to 2010, the Waconia U10 team has secured either the first place or runner-up position in D6.
Details of where and when the Tournament will be played will follow. Congratulations U10 Girls!
After 21 years, the Waconia Hockey Association has accomplished the lofty goal of placing a team in the Minnesota Hockey State Tournament.
The girls U-12B team will be facing off in the state quarterfinals against No 1 rated Farmington, Friday March 14, 2014 at the Maple Grove Arena at 8:15 p.m..
It is through all of the involvement and efforts of every person or family since the days of practices at faraway places that have helped to make this happen. To show our appreciation to all of those people, and to show our support for the girls that have earned the right to play in the State Tournament, please attend the game on Friday night.
This special group of girls have had a season that long ago was only a dream for the association. Show your support and come cheer the girls on as they pursue the ultimate goal in Minnesota Hockey!
Thanks for your support!

When the Waconia Ice Arena opened its doors in 2008, the Waconia Lions volunteered to cover the full sponsorship of the arena’s Zamboni. As of June 2013, they fulfilled their promise with the last payment! We are so honored to have a fantastic organization continue with ongoing support towards Waconia Hockey.
WHA sends the Waconia Lions a HUGE THANK YOU!! As you see the Lions around town (Carver County Fair, upcoming Rodeo, etc) please take the time to personally thank them.
