Board Member Applicants

Tom Nessa-

My name is Tom Nessa and I am interested in serving on the Waconia Hockey Association Board.

I have been active in the association since 2000. I have been a head coach at each level (Mites, Squirts, Pew-Wee and Bantams.)  I have also served on the board previously as the High School Liaison from 2003-2006, and 2014-2016.

I have 3 boys who have been active in the program. Mites-Bantams.

I believe that my experience at all levels of association coaching along with my previous board experience will allow me to add perspective to the board as we face new challenges going forward.   My previous position on the board as the High School Liaison, along with my experience as a high school player’s parent for the previous four seasons would make me a good candidate for the High School Liaison position.  There is a unique opportunity for WHA to partner with the high school and the new coaching staff to help bring Waconia Hockey to the next level.

Another position that I would be interested in is the WHA-District 6 representative.

Thank you for your consideration.

Angela Beckwith-

I have a B.S. Industrial Engineering and M.S. Technology Management. I specialize in reengineering processes to make them more efficient. I spent over 5 years in manufacturing, over 6 years in finance and will soon begin working in healthcare. I recently completed my school board commitment for St. Joseph School Advisory Board.

I would like to be a member of the WHA Board of Directors for a couple of reasons. First, my oldest is a Squirt and my youngest just completed his first year of Rookie Camp. We spend a lot of time at the rink and I think it’s important to volunteer if you can. Second, I see opportunities for improvements and would like to offer my skills to help.

If I was to pick a position, I would select Treasurer. However, if there is a position in need of my experience and background, I would be interested.

Allison Lorenzen-

My name is Allison Lorenzen.  My family and I have lived in Waconia for 7 years.  My husband Steve and I have 4 kids.  Two sets of twin boys.  Chase and Tyler are 7 years old in 1st grade,  Zachary and Aiden are 4 years old. My older 2 boys played their first year of hockey on the black mini-mites team.  I was a teacher at The Blake School in Wayzata for 9 years before having kids and now I'm a stay at home mom.  Being a mom or 4 young active kids I’m extremely organized and when a task is given I don't procrastinate.  Being a stay at home mom also gives me time to work on projects.  I'm very committed to tasks and projects I take on.

My name is Joannie Almjeld. My husband and I have lived in Waconia for 12 years. We have 3 boys ages 13, 11 and 7. Our 7 year old son, Joseph, played his first year of hockey on the Mini Mite Purple Team. I work outside the home in Bloomington. As a mom of 3 very active boys, I'm a pro at multi-tasking and staying organized.

We would like to team up for the Team Manager Coordinator position.  We were both team managers this past season and feel we will bring a current and fresh perspective to the board.  We are very organized, friendly, and responsible.  Communication in this role is key and that is a strength for both of us as well.  We realize it is a single person board seat, but we feel the collaboration we bring to the role with our rapport along with the spreading of the workload would benefit the association tremendously.

Thank you-

Charlie Vacek-

Position:  President

I have served on the WHA board for the last 3 years in the Girls Coordinator and D6 Representative roles.  I have a limited “hockey knowledge” experience  beyond watching my children participate over the past 6 years, but have extensive athletic experience and I feel that I have an insiders perspective on unique challenges faced by the WHA competing in District 6.  My specific goals in taking this position are to:

-Grow our participation rates and standing within the city of Waconia

-Improve communication within the association

-Work to expand the opportunities for ice availability for our members

-To take specific measures to become more competitive within District 6.

Brad Bodem-

Hello All – My name is Brad Bodem and I would love to remain on the WHA Board as the Ice Coordinator. I am currently holding that position after taking over last season due to an unexpected opening. I live in St Boni with my wife and 3 kids. We have been involved with the WHA for the last 8 years due to the fact that 2 of our 3 kids play hockey. Our oldest son just completed his first year with the high school team and our youngest just finished peewees and is moving on to bantams. I feel that with what I learned as last year’s Ice Coordinator and with the last 8 years of experience I have ideas to offer that I feel would be beneficial to the WHA. Thanks, Brad

Nikki Siddons-

I am Nikki Siddons: a hockey fanatic, a mother, a wife, and a nurse. For several years now I have been intimately involved with the Waconia Hockey Association, volunteering in one position or another. This year I would like to take this volunteerism to the next level and run for the WHA board of directors. My skillset will benefit the WHA. I have a strong sense of responsibility and accountability. Everything I do is done with integrity. I am highly educated, a hard worker, and fully dedicated to all I do. This year I would like to run for the Team Manager Coordinator. Alternate positions that I would consider include WHA president and D6 Liaison position. Thank you for considering my application.

James McNulty-

My wife, Janice, and I have lived in Waconia for the past 18 years. I have been involved in hockey most of my life. Our son, Dylan, will be a 2nd year Bantam this coming fall. We have enjoyed being members of the WHA for the past 10 years. I have been on the Board as the Treasurer for the past year and a half.  I would welcome the opportunity to continue on the Board. It has been rewarding to work with our dedicated parents and kids.

Jessica Martin-

Dear Election Committee,

Perhaps I’m the next member of the Waconia Hockey Association Board you’re seeking!

I’m Jessica Martin, mom of Peewee B skater Camden Martin, future U10 skater Quinn Martin, and wife of Peewee B Coach Corey Martin.   Our family has been actively involved in the WHA since our son started with the program seven years ago.   I just completed my first year as team manager.

As a Waconia native, I can appreciate the hard work, commitment and dedication put forth by the WHA founders, along with the members who continue to nurture the development and growth of the program.   I’m very passionate about building a solid hockey program in Waconia.  With a strategic vision and strong leadership, I believe we can continue to expand our hockey program, with focus on core hockey fundamentals and character development of our youth skaters.

Thank you for your consideration!

Marvin Denzer-

My name is Marvin Denzer, I have a daughter that played in the WHA, started with the U10’s and is now playing with the Holy Family-Waconia Wild Fire.  I also have a son that played on the PeeWee B2’s 2015-2016 season.  I’ve been coaching in the WHA for the past 10 years.  I would like to be part of the leadership Team by servings on Waconia Hockey Association Board of Directors, District 6 Representative position.  This is truly an exciting time in the WHA as we continue to grow and create learning / healthy competitive environment at all levels.  I have served as the WHA D6 representative in the past and take this position seriously.  I will attend all D6 monthly meetings and ensure WHA is in compliance with D6 policies and procedures.  As well as, perform other duties that assist in taking WHA to the next level.
