Marketing/Sponsorships Coordinator

Passionate about hockey? Connected around town? Love to network? Comfortable developing business / closing the “sale”? If so, you are who we need to fill a vital role supporting the Waconia Hockey Association. Paid Sponsorships are critical to the success of the WHA; the more we bring in from our valued Sponsors, the less burden on our association’s families when it comes to Fundraising. For the upcoming season,  we are looking to split the duties of the Sponsorship Coordinator position into two roles.

In this role you will primarily be responsible for leading our appeal to local businesses – engaging with existing sponsors to confirm or update their commitment as well as identify and onboard new paying sponsors. We offer several tiers of Sponsorship opportunities so there is something for every business – we just need to connect with them and tell our story. There will be plenty of help behind the scenes executing the program once Sponsors are identified and committed.

This position will cover all Dibs hours for the 2022-2023 season.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead our annual appeal to local businesses by engaging with existing sponsors as well as identifying and onboarding new sponsors
  • Seek grants and work with WHA Treasurer on submissions
  • Work with co-chair and WHA Fundraising Director to develop a comprehensive sponsorship program determining tiers and benefits and program collateral to use for solicitations (sponsorship guide/slides)
  • Coordinate with other Fundraising co-chairs for streamlined outreach efforts to local business (Raffle Calendar, Golf Outing, etc.)
  • Represent the WHA at local networking events (i.e. Chamber of Commerce meetings)
  • Be aware of local events (i.e. Nickle Dickle Day) and participate as allowable or identify opportunities for other volunteers to represent the WHA at these events (you will not be responsible for attending all these events - if you identify an event that presents a good opportunity for the WHA to be at, we can find other volunteers to “man the table”)
  • Can do attitude along with strong communication skills

Board oversight for this key volunteer position is the responsibility of the Fundraising Director.
