Waconia Hockey Association Bullying Policy

Bullying of any kind is unacceptable at Waconia Hockey Association (WHA) and will not be tolerated.  Bullying is defined as seeking to harm, coerce, harass or intimidate another individual.  Bullying is counterproductive to team spirit and can be devastating to a victim. The WHA is committed to providing a safe, caring and friendly environment for all of our players. Anyone who knows that bullying is happening is expected to tell a coach, board member or parent.

Any player who feels they are being bullied is asked to do one or more of the following things:

  • Talk to your parents
  • Talk to a Coach or WHA Board Member
  • Write a letter or email to the Association, Coach or Board Member detailing the incident.

There is no time limit for initiating a complaint, but every effort should be made to bring the complaint to the attention of your parent, coach and/or WHA Board member as soon as possible.  This will ensure that memories are fresh and behavior can be accurately recalled by any witnesses.  This will also help ensure the bullying behavior can stop as soon as possible.

If bullying is occurring during team-related activities (on or off the ice) the following consequences will be instituted:

First  Offense: - One week suspension away from all team activities.

Second Offense – One month suspension away from all team activities.

Third Offense: - Removed from the team for the remainder of the year. No Refund will be issued.
